Role Purpose

We are looking for reliable, confident and highly organised Dispatchers to join our Solihull operation.

The Dispatcher is at the heart of our day-to-day taxi operation. You will be responsible for actively managing live bookings, working with drivers to ensure journeys are covered efficiently and making sure customers receive a dependable service.

This is not simply a role watching jobs on a screen. A good Dispatcher actively manages the operation: identifying problems before they become service failures, communicating with drivers, reallocating work where necessary and taking ownership of outstanding journeys.

We have opportunities for both full-time and part-time employees, covering day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the live dispatch system throughout your shift and actively manage outstanding bookings.
• Identify journeys that are at risk of being late, uncovered or returned and take immediate action.
• Contact drivers directly where necessary rather than allowing jobs to remain unattended or paused.
• Reallocate work where a driver cannot reasonably complete a journey on time.
• Monitor driver availability, location and workload to make the best use of available resources.
• Deal professionally with driver queries and operational issues.
• Work closely with call-centre/customer-service colleagues to resolve booking problems.
• Check booking information and highlight inaccurate or incomplete addresses, times or journey details.
• Prioritise time-critical work, including account customers, school transport and other important contracted journeys.
• Escalate serious service failures, safeguarding concerns, accidents or operational incidents appropriately.
• Maintain accurate notes and records within the dispatch system.
• Support Take Me’s service standards around punctuality, reliability and customer communication.
• Assist with shift handovers so outstanding issues are clearly communicated to the incoming team.
• Follow company procedures, data-protection requirements and operational policies.
• Undertake appropriate training on Take Me systems, processes and service standards.

What We’re Looking For

Previous taxi/private hire dispatch experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential for the right person. Full training can be provided.

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who can think quickly, communicate confidently and take ownership.

You should be comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change very quickly. You will need good computer skills, strong attention to detail and the confidence to speak with drivers and colleagues when something needs sorting.

You’ll also need to remain calm under pressure. Taxi operations can be extremely busy, particularly during evenings, weekends, adverse weather and major events, so we’re looking for people who look for solutions rather than simply highlighting problems.

Hours & Shifts

Our Solihull operation requires coverage across both day and night shifts, and we have opportunities for both full-time and part-time hours.

The exact shift pattern and contracted hours will be discussed during the recruitment process. Applicants should clearly state their availability, including whether they are available for days, nights and/or weekends.

Pay

Starting rate: £12.71 per hour.

Holiday entitlement, pension and other employment benefits will be provided in accordance with the employee’s contract and applicable company policies.
