Get ready for a night like no other in Northampton. Something big is coming to town, and it’s not your usual Friday night gig. Imagine walking into The Black Prince with the air full of buzz, the lights dimmed, and a crowd filled with excitement. Then it begins — the slow, immersive sound of sitar, followed by waves of psych rock that take over the room. This is Helicon, a powerful eight-piece Scottish psych/shoegaze band that’s been turning heads across Europe and on BBC Radio 6. And now, they’re returning to Northampton for one more unforgettable night of live music on Friday, 8th August 2025.
Helicon’s sound is different. It’s big, hypnotic, and full of energy. Their performances have a way of pulling you in and holding you in the moment. After touring across Europe earlier this year and spending time in the studio working on their fourth album, they’re ready to share more music and more magic. This night in Northampton is not just another stop — it’s part of a journey, and you’re invited to be part of it. Will you be there when the first note hits?
Helicon Return to Northampton for a Third Year Running
Helicon are no strangers to Northampton. In fact, this marks their third performance at The Black Prince in as many years. That’s not by accident. This band has built a strong connection with local fans who keep coming back for more. There’s something special about how Helicon and Northampton just work together — the venue, the crowd, and the band always seem to hit the right note.
After their recent European tour, Helicon have been back in the studio putting the finishing touches on what will be their fourth full-length album. Fans are already excited, and this show might even include a few early previews of what’s to come. If you’ve seen them before, you’ll know what to expect: loud, tight, and full of groove. If this will be your first time, prepare for something fresh and bold — a sound that’s both modern and inspired by the best of classic psych.
Helicon have earned a steady presence on BBC Radio 6, with airplay that’s helped them reach fans far beyond Scotland. With each release, they keep growing, and each live music performance proves why they’re one of the most exciting psych bands in the UK today. Don’t miss their return to Northampton — it’s going to be another special night.
Live Music Support from Zement and Oscillator
A night of this scale needs a strong lineup, and that’s exactly what you’re getting. Supporting Helicon are Zement, an energetic and unique band from Germany. If you’re into the motorik beats of NEU! or the electronic style of Kraftwerk, Zement will be right up your street. Their music is full of rhythm, movement, and atmosphere, making them a perfect warm-up for Helicon.
Also on the bill is Oscillator, another exciting act ready to deliver deep sounds and raw energy to the Northampton crowd. Together, these three acts form a strong lineup that delivers a full evening of powerful live music. It’s not just one headline moment — it’s a full journey from start to finish.
If you’ve been waiting for a true psych and shoegaze event in Northampton, this is it. No fillers, no half-hearted performances — just three bands, one stage, and an audience ready to experience something unforgettable.
A Standout Date in the 2025 Northampton Music Calendar

Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Helicon or just discovering them, there’s no better way to experience their sound than live, in person, and surrounded by people who feel the same way.
This isn’t just a music event — it’s a moment. It’s a chance to be there when new songs are played live for the first time. It’s a night to meet fellow fans and connect over the joy of live music. And with a strong local reputation already built over their past shows in Northampton, Helicon’s 2025 return is already drawing attention from fans both near and far.
